My Most Successful Flashback Arrestor Ever For Mix HHO Gas 5-17-2008

My Most Successful Flashback Ever For Mix HHO Gas 5-17-2008. In our latest video we eliminated the Millet's and we replaced it with Rice. Inside the flashback arrestor we have a combination stainless steel screen on each end bronze wool and Rice. Another inventor tried a combination of bronze wool and buckshot replacing the Rice and this inventor said it worked. The main goal of using something in front of the bronze wool is to take the impact of the fire before it reaches the bronze wool ...

I used vermiculite before. Don't think I ever got any flashbacks, but I see no reason why it wouldn't have worked. At any rate, nothing ever blew up!

Halokohout @ 8:08 am #

ok the longest fart ever :D

alweerjeroen @ 8:08 am #

probably static discharge

Remember, HHO gas will recombine to H2O as soon as it can. HHO gas is unstable and should be used as soon as you produce it. The other consideration should be that HHO gas does not explode, however it does IMPLODE. Try not to kill your self, or people around you, before consulting an Engineer and a High School Chemistry Teacher.

Good Luck

While your FBA did work partly, by preventing the flame from entering the balloon, it completely failed in its design to allow a steady flame. This system is only effective if you have a usable flame on the end. Flame should not reach the contents of your FBA, but when (on occasion) it does reach the FBA, it should prevent the flame from crossing to the source. The "machine gunning" you experienced represents the flame entering the FBA and consuming all the available gas then reigniting.

In regular welding this is done at several points… 1)the tanks do not mix the gases until the torch… 2) the regulator forces the compressed gasses down to an acceptable pressure… 3) the valves and brass of the torch allow the gasses to arrive at combustion cool, instead of prewarmed.

Ok first… Its not Hydrogen gas, … its HHO or brown's gas. Second The device should be appropriately called a "Flash Back ARRESTER". This is to say that the process of flash back is BAD. We do not want to experience the flame traveling back to the source through the hose and blowing up the source.

Thanks for the reply, Unfortunately I wasn't in the room when it happened. However the three who were there described it as going off like a shotgun leaving a ringing in their ears.

I'm hoping that ,as you say it touched an undesirable surface..then popped naturally and as it was collapsing somehow igniting via a static discharge. The thought that this can just happen for no reason scares the pergibies out of me.

Regarding your balloon on the ceiling. Did the balloon explode in a flame or did it touch a sharp piece of paint and pop the balloon as if it was a regular balloon with regular air?

frithwks @ 8:08 am #

Very impressive.

A quick question…. I had a particularly disturbing experience when a balloon I had just filled spontaneously exploded for no apparent reason. It was simply resting on my ceiling (not near any lights), when all of a sudden POW!!

Anyone else experience this phenomenon. I'd like to reassure my wife so I'll be allowed to play in the shed again LOL.

thanks from all the people like us.

Sumermagor @ 8:08 am #

i knew this tech since old times, its not new,
using little small ceramic balls is the best, heat resistance and the hydrogen oxygen mixture will not build up in the tube, i have lots of these small balls:)

Looks like this arrestor would really limit flow rate and outlet pressure. I would also worry about the useful life of arrestor before it would have to be rebuilt due to the contents you have used degrading.

You need to watch my newest video and the new construction of what is inside the new Flashback Arrestor and the testing results.

Part. 1, #1 NEW HHO Gas Flashback Arrestor 9-7-2008

In the video you can see that the gas flow is decent because I am lighting the hydrogen & oxygen gas at least 2 to 3 inches away.

KB2ZGN @ 8:08 am #

Nice work developing an arrestor. It worked really well, but I have to ask if it will allow enough gas to get through it to be useful on an engine. It seemed that the flow rate is really low, but I'm only just learning about this application myself and have everything to learn about it. Keep up the great work.

ipctec @ 8:08 am #

….but what about taking metal pellets, like shotgun ammo ??

ipctec @ 8:08 am #

That massive !!

electric789 @ 8:08 am #

wow.

freedomorelse @ 8:08 am #

I bet your neighbors love you.:)

InstallGuys @ 8:08 am #

One other comment. I wonder if you could you do this with screens at either end, and simply bb's as a filler? ….hhhmmmmm

InstallGuys @ 8:08 am #

WOW! That is absolutely incredibe. Your flashback arrestor just sustained thousands of flashbacks in one session. Very impressive. I recently made a flashback arrestor with similar metal components, and hose screens at either end, and simply sand between them. It did suppress the gas output a bit though. Worked pretty well, till my hho generator frothed, and sent sandy electrolite down the line….haha I like the bronze wool idea better. Great job. Where do you get the "millets"?

jahroen @ 8:08 am #

ok i have seen the other vid,s
and indeed it looks safe.
no sustained flame anymore.
Good job mate! keep up the good work

mainiboy @ 8:08 am #

Thanks for sharing, I tried to make one like this but when I stuf the bronze wool it blocks the flow of the gas and if I let it loose it explodes, can you tell what I am doing wrong. Thanks again

If you watched my newest video you can see the difference between the fire coming out with a flashback as a mini torch directly from the flashback. After putting on a 12 to 16 inch metal brake line it does not become a mini torch. The flame explodes inside the pipe and blows itself out. If you do not have a pipe coming off your flashback arrestor it will become a mini torch. Watch my videos and you can see what I am talking about.
