Water spark test on a gas generator

I am using a custom CDI system that is triggered by a reedswitch near the magneto. There is a booster cap side with HV diodes attached directly across the spark plug for the low voltage. When I power on the booster side, you can hear the RPM's definitely go up, but rather slowly because of the heavy flywheel.
